It’s been another stellar season for the Caribbean Golf Society, the summer hasn’t been great but the golf has made up for it.  This year was all about the men from Coventry, Bob Dhammi, Trevor Lammy and Frank McCook; all had their first wins with Frank McCook proving dominant, culminating in the 2012 Order of Merit title.

The season opener at Cleobury Mortimer was won by Bob Dhammi with an impressive 41 points; it was an ominous marker laid down by the Coventry golfer a standard which would later be shared by fellow Coventry-man Frank.  The season wasn’t all about the men from Coventry; CGS old boys would also make a mark on the season, .Keith Riley made use of home advantage to win the founders day trophy, Martin Chidgey came back from a hip operation to win at the Shropshire Golf Centre with 43 points, former CGS captain Dean Leith won on a soggy Isaak Walton Golf Course, Vassel Brown carded the round of the season with an impressive two over par gross score playing off 8 handicap a score of 42 stableford points would win him the trophy at Little Lakes Golf Club.  Another first time victor was Dave Smith who ramped up 42 points to win at Kilworth Springs.

In this memorable Ryder Cup year, the CGS’s own Ryder Cup match against the Chris Morris Society held in September went to an impressive CGS team at the Forest of Arden’s Aylesford course.

The season concluded with our annual Presentation Dinner and Dance which was held at the CAP centre inSmethwick.  This year’s event was well attended by CGS members and their guests and all were kept well entertained by local comedic, vocal and DJ talents.

The event was also supporting two worthy causes namely Prostate Cancer and Sickle Cell.  On the night funds raised through raffle contributions and the CGS season running birdie competition was split between both charitable causes.

It’s been another successful season for the growth of the society and we continue to always improve from year to year.
