Time would tell! In fact, although the front nine is the shorter of the two nines, it proved much harder to score points on, with most of the top scores of the day being accumulated on the longer back nine.

Hole 10 was chosen for the longest drive prize, with usual suspect Junior Harris leading the way, only to be beaten by a monster from Trevor Lammy, well done Trevor.

The par 3 14th hole was the target for nearest the pin; Lloyd Thomas was edged out by from a fine shot by Linton Bell.

Hole 15 was chosen for nearest in two, Ronald Ross was triumphant with a shot that settled 7 foot 3 inch from the pin.

As for the major prizes, this transpired to be a close run race, with two players scoring 36 points; Eric Queely snatching 2nd place from Clyde Pile on count-back. This left big hitting Ian Higgins to take first place with 37 points, helped by an impressive 3 birdies. This was Ian’s first major win since his victory in 2009 at Lichfield GC. The win also shoots Ian to top spot in the Order of Merit – tremendous stuff Ian!

CGS captain Elford Douglas concluded the day’s events by emphasising the need for all players to rake bunkers, and repair pitch marks on greens; an ethos we should all adhere to for the enjoyment of all.

Thanks were made to our hosts for their help and hospitality, and the general reaction was that everyone enjoyed the course, and had a good day.

Full Event Result:

                <colgroup>
                            <col class="ninja_column_0 ">
                            <col class="ninja_column_1 ">
                            <col class="ninja_column_2 ">
                            <col class="ninja_column_3 ">
                            <col class="ninja_column_4 ">
                            <col class="ninja_column_5 ">
                            <col class="ninja_column_6 ">
                    </colgroup>

The sun was out as members of the CGS arrived at a busy Bewdley Pines Golf Club, whose members were holding their Club Championships, so there was a lively atmosphere […]

[8

post-1279","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-golf-major","has_thumb
["GET
