It did feel a little bit strange not playing on a private course with all its trimmings of textured grass and sand, but who cares were we play as long as we are together playing the game we love most!

There were some notable absentees on this occasion for one reason or another so the opportunity was there for someone to step up to the mark. As usually there were many pretenders to the crown, with Carl Douglas first, throwing down the gauntlet by thrashing a very long straight drive down the first Tee! Many others followed suit but some fell well short of the mark!
I believe most people enjoyed the day and again there was tales of what could have been! But the man on form was Lloyd (Bugsy) Thomas. Playing on his home turf Lloyd posted a score of 37 points to confirm his place in the CGS team for the pending Ryder Cup style match against the Chris Morris Golf Society. Well done Bugsy you finally got the win and more so that handicap of yours can now come down!

Unfortunately one of the rules of golf was broken which resulted in a disqualification. It was an unfortunate incident and I’m sure the player involve did not intentionally look to gain an unfair advantage, but just forgot one of the many rules of golf. This incident however would not have made any difference to the overall winners and placing on the day.

Well, all systems ahead now for the last CGS event of the year which will be held at Abbey Park golf club where the overall winners for golfer of the year, and birdie champion will be announced. Captain Jacko is currently in pole position and looking unbeatable at the moment with only one event to go, so come on guys lets not make too easy for him!!

Overall Winner:

Lloyd Thomas with a very credible 37 points on his ‘home court’ played very well and was a deserved winner(he still has a dodgy handicap though!) However the boy done well and will be buying himself some plasters when he finds out how much he’s been cut by the handicap secretary!

Longest Drive:

Carl Douglas (‘the Rebel’) with a very impressive long straight drive which no one really got close to on the day, well done Carl it is about time you won the longest drive! In future just remember to relax out there and let your game do the talking. Junior you have a real contender to your longest drive crown!

Nearest the Pin:

To our guest Mr Eric Queeley who produced a very accurate nine iron shot to within nine inches of the flag on the tenth hole.

Event Result:

                <colgroup>
                            <col class="ninja_column_0 ">
                            <col class="ninja_column_1 ">
                            <col class="ninja_column_2 ">
                            <col class="ninja_column_3 ">
                    </colgroup>

The 7th CGS event was held at one of the best municipal golf courses in Birmingham for it’s layout, but for some reason it always seems to rain whenever we […]

[8

post-284","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-golf-major","has_thumb
["GET
