{"id":3250,"date":"2017-02-27T16:12:25","date_gmt":"2017-02-27T16:12:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.caribbeangolfsociety.co.uk\/?p=3250"},"modified":"2019-05-22T12:32:38","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T11:32:38","slug":"new-local-rule-introduced-by-ra-and-usga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.caribbeangolfsociety.co.uk\/?p=3250","title":{"rendered":"New Local Rule introduced by R&#038;A and USGA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New Local Rule eliminates penalty for a golfer who accidentally causes a ball to move on the putting green.<\/li>\n<li>Rule available for committees to use in golf competitions from 1 January 2017.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n<h4><strong>Use of Local Rule<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><em>\u201c<\/em><em>Rules <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randa.org\/Rules-of-Golf\/MainRules\/18-Ball-at-Rest-Moved\/SubRules\/2-By-Player-Partner-Caddie-or-Equipment\">18-2<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randa.org\/Rules-of-Golf\/MainRules\/18-Ball-at-Rest-Moved\/SubRules\/3-By-Opponent-Caddie-or-Equipment-in-Match-Play\">18-3<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.randa.org\/Rules-of-Golf\/MainRules\/20-Lifting-Dropping-and-Placing-Playing-from-Wrong-Place\/SubRules\/1-Lifting-and-Marking\">20-1<\/a> are modified as follows:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>When a player\u2019s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This Local Rule applies only when the player\u2019s ball or ball-marker lies on the putting green and any movement is accidental.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Note: If it is determined that a player\u2019s ball on the putting green was moved as a result of wind, water or some other natural cause such as the effects of gravity, the ball must be played as it lies from its new location.
