Gaudet Luce Golf Club, former host venue of the Trilby Tour and most recently the stage for the West Midlands debut of Blitz Golf on 21 June 2026, once again provided a superb setting for the Caribbean Golf Society. The fast paced Blitz Golf event a 10 hole professional showdown featuring tour players, rising talents, and celebrities was won by English professional OJ Farrell, further cementing Gaudet Luce’s reputation as a modern, tournament ready venue.

CGS arrived in full numbers and in our chosen black tops to compete for the 2026 Secretary Shield. Conditions were hot, dry, and fast, making the course both enjoyable and punishing. Very few players broke 30 points, and a record number of blobs were recorded across the field.

Gaudet Luce remains familiar territory for CGS, but it still demands strategic play. The opening hole presented its usual left to right challenge with danger on both sides. The short par‑4 5th hole stood out as a classic risk and reward test, claiming balls in dense woodland on the right and the tarmac driveway on the left. The iconic 192‑yard par‑3 12th asked its familiar question..short, long, or stiff, with Andrew Sofola rising to the challenge.

The main event was won by Keith Salmon, delivering an excellent 36‑point performance to claim his first Major of the season, a well deserved achievement. He was followed by Errol Simms with 32 points (countback) and Micky Taylor also on 32 points.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Post round hospitality was outstanding. The chefs had clearly been tipped off about our fussy Caribbean palates, producing a selection of meals that impressed every member, another example of Gaudet Luce’s commitment to 100% customer satisfaction.

Charity donations were collected for Prostate Cancer UK, and CGS presented a contribution to the bar staff in appreciation of their excellent service. The day closed with thanks to Gaudet Luce for going above and beyond, and attention now turns to next month’s weekend event at the Vale of Glamorgan.
