The second ever CGS Champions of Champions event was staged at the Shropshire Golf Club with 20 past major winners in attendance.  The competition was a stroke play event which required a different level of thinking as opposed to the usual stableford format, players would have to control their ball rather than just go all guns blazing, no chance of skipping a hole if you can no longer score this time every shot counts.

The course was in lovely condition and the greens running smooth and true; with the sun also shining all was right in the world of golf.

The Blue and Silver courses where the nines in play for this event with the competition level running very high;  There would only be one winner in this format unlike the usual Majors where we have multiple prizes.  The first winner of this completion which was held last year was Rhucha Ford, but on this occasion there would be no repeat performance from the past champion.

In the first group and first to post a score was Nigel Harris who on countback lead with a 73 net ahead of Roan McLeod who played well but struggled with his driving.

As the groups slowly came into the club house Nigel was still holding onto the lead however Keith Salmon came in with a 72 net score.to take the overall lead.

It was looking like a Keith Salmon victory until Ian Higgins came in with the low score of the day, a net 70 was good enough to take the win and the title of Champion of Champions for 2016.
