Bromfield Bags the TNCMC Trophy at Welcombe!
CGS – Menzies Welcombe Golf Day Report
On Sunday 23rd August, the Caribbean Golf Society returned to one of our old stomping grounds, Menzies Welcombe in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Up for grabs was the TNCMC Trophy
As always at this time of year, the course was in excellent condition, with superb fairways and greens. The weather also played its part, with temperatures in the mid 20s creating near perfect golfing conditions.
The CGS boys arrived in good time (few laggers), proudly donning their blue Galvin Green shirts… well, most of us did! A few members once again struggled with the dress code, but thankfully, their generous donations to the Captain’s Charity meant all was forgiven!
After breakfast, coffee and plenty of banter, we headed to the practice area to sharpen our skills before taking on the course.
Menzies Welcombe provided its usual test, with excellent par 3s and challenging par 4s. The greens were in great condition and running at a fair pace. With the course busy, the round took around five hours, but the excellent weather and company made it an enjoyable day.
After the golf, we returned to the 19th for a few refreshments, followed by dinner, dessert and, of course, the all important results!

Captain’s Charity
A fantastic £25+ was collected for the Captain’s chosen charity, Prostate Cancer UK, including a particularly generous contribution from Anthony Davison, who kindly donated his prize money back into the charity pot. A fantastic gesture and very much appreciated.
A huge thank you to all the CGS members for making it another great day, and to the team at Menzies Welcombe for looking after us so well. As always, the staff received a generous CGS tip in recognition of their hospitality.
Congratulations to all our winners, and well played, everyone!
Another great CGS day out – good golf, OK food, good company and plenty of banter!
Bring on the next one… same place (next door), at Stratford Park GC!
See you soon
Mr Captain.
