A fantastic turnout of 40+ society members and guests gathered at the Gaudet Luce course for a highly competitive Stableford event.

The Gaudet Luce Golf Club, located in Droitwich, Worcestershire, is a well-regarded venue known for its two excellent courses—the 18-hole Phoenix Course and the 9-hole Hadzor Course.

Phoenix Course: A mix of tight, risk-and-reward holes alongside longer, more open fairways, making it a challenge for golfers of all skill levels.

The 12th hole on the Phoenix Course is considered one of the finest par-3s in Worcestershire, surrounded by water and requiring precise shot placement.

With its welcoming atmosphere and top-tier facilities, Gaudet Luce remains a favorite among golf societies and visitors alike.

Despite the brisk conditions the competition heated up with Andy Mac, travelling from Bristol, showcased his golfing prowess.

The early morning chill did little to deter Mac, who displayed remarkable composure throughout the event. His steady approach and ability to capitalize on key birdie opportunities kept him ahead of the competition. With this triumph, Mac now leads both the Order of Merit and the Birdie Competition, solidifying his reputation as one of the most consistent performers in the field.

Andy Mac’s victory was built on a foundation of precision and composure, with two crucial birdies on the tournament’s most difficult holes proving pivotal. These well-earned strokes not only secured his overall win with 36 points but also propelled him to the top of the Birdie Competition, further solidifying his dominance in the standings.

By navigating the toughest challenges on the course with skill and confidence, Mac demonstrated why he’s now the player to beat. As the season unfolds, competitors will be eager to chase him down in both the Order of Merit and the birdie rankings. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Mac to see if he can maintain his momentum and extend his dominance.

Tony Blackwood put in a strong showing, finishing second with 35 points—a testament to his dedicated off-season practice, which clearly paid off in a composed and well-executed round. Close behind was Errol Simms, securing third place with 34 points, rounding out a competitive leaderboard.

Throughout the round, various holes featured contests for nearest the pin in one, two and three, with different winners emerging for each challenge. These skill-based contests kept the excitement levels high, showcasing precise iron play and calculated approach shots across the course.

While Mac’s win secured his place at the top of both the Order of Merit and Birdie Competition, the event also celebrated the accuracy and technical mastery of the field.
